We are here to keep connecting you with volunteer opportunities in your area, but if you're really interested in them, you'll probably want to start searching for them yourself as well. Where can you find them? Try checking out a couple of the ideas below.
* If your school has a career centre of some kind, they can almost definitely set you up with all kinds of volunteer opportunities, both within the school and without. They may even have a job search website that you can use to find volunteer positions.
* RAMP, affiliated with the Toronto Public Library, has a listing of current volunteer opportunities. Some involve assisting the library and others are in the community.
* The YMCA of Greater Toronto is always looking for volunteers to help out at the many functions and activities they host.
* If you like working with animals, the Toronto Wildlife Centre may be just the place for you. They have a listing of volunteer positions on their website.
* Hospitals in the GTA are always looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, from dealing with patients to clerical work. Applications for these positions are usually quite competitive, but the experience is incomparable.
* Last but not least, don't underestimate the power of proactive searching! If there's somewhere you want to volunteer, just call them up and ask! Edited by gdsilva - Aug/06/2010 at 12:44pm |
